Patch testing

Patch testing is available at Inside Out Dermatology. Patch testing is a way to test if you have allergic contact dermatitis that might be contributing to your hand dermatitis or perhaps ongoing facial dermatitis.

The procedure usually involves an initial consultation with the dermatologists to determine if you are suitable and eligible for testing. Then the specific allergens are ordered from the Allergen Bank at which time they are then applied onto your back and left on for 2 days. Day 3 the patches are taken off and read and then re-read at Day 5. The area is then observed for any redness or irritation which suggest that the patient is allergic to that specific ingredient. Information on those ingredients will be given to you on the day if you are.

Please book in a consult to see if you are suitable for this investigation.
